The comedian recently drew backlash for his joke referring to Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde as a 'gaddar' (traitor).
As this Twitter spat unfolded, Kangana made her stance on Kunal Kamra very clear. In a press statement, she called his jokes "insulting".
In the new video released by Kunal Kamra, he has sung 'Hum Honge Kangal' which is a parody of the tune 'Hum Honge Kamyaab Ek Din', while visuals depict a Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena mob vandalising the Habitat Comedy Club.
Kangana said that while the demolition of her bungalow was illegal, the action being taken against Kamra is happening legally.
Shinde said that while he understands satire, there should be a limit to it.
It all started with Kamra's latest YouTube video, where he took a jab at Shinde. His remarks didn't sit well with Shiv Sena workers, who responded by vandalising Mumbai’s Habitat Centre.
Mehta, known for films like Shahid, Citylights, and Scam 1992, condemned the attack on The Habitat in Mumbai, recalling a similar experience from 25 years ago.
Shiv Sena’s Thane MP Naresh Mhaske, who is a close aide of Shinde, said that Kamra would not be able to move freely in India and would have to move out of India.
Soon after the video went viral, Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) leaders and supporters took offense, calling his jokes an “insult” to their leader. The backlash was swift.
Kunal Kamra attracts a flurry of political commentary over his jibe at Eknath Shinde. Devendra Fadnavis, Ajit Pawar, Jaya Bachchan, Aditya Thackeray, and others weigh in on the issue.
