The Supreme Court on Friday directed the Election Commission to ensure that CCTV video recordings of polling booths are maintained and preserved till the adjudication of a PIL challenging the poll panel’s August 7 and 23, 2024 communications to increase the number of voters per polling booth from earlier 1,200 to 1,500.
AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal, on Wednesday, submitted his reply to the Election Commission of India (ECI) on the complaints over his charge against the Haryana government of poisoning the Yamuna water to blame the AAP government in Delhi in case of any harm to people.
A delegation of the Delhi Congress on Tuesday submitted a complaint to the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC), seeking a probe against AAP National Convenor, Arvind Kejriwal over his allegations of poisoning Yamuna water by the Haryana government.
Delhi Chief Minister Atishi and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann met the Chief Election Commissioner on Tuesday, alleging that the BJP-ruled Haryana government is supplying toxic water to Delhi, and urged the poll panel to form a joint team of engineers from both states and EC representatives to investigate the matter related to rising ammonia levels in the river.
The statement of the poll panel came in the wake of a report that a dedicated team of AAP volunteers would be stationed at every polling booth on the election day on February 5 to oversee the EVM demonstration.
The Congress leader sought the time from the EC in response to a notice issued by it on Sunday.
Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Rajiv Kumar on Monday said the Election Commission would very soon start the process of Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir.
Singhvi while apprising the same said, “We have said in our complaint that no leader can campaign directly or indirectly during the silence period.”
The ECI said this significant participation is a testament to the robust democratic spirit and civic engagement of the people in the region.
The poll panel announced the election to the four seats in the Upper House of Parliament as the term of the incumbent MPs- Binoy Viswam, Elamaram Kareem and Jose K Mani will end on July 1.
