The Kolkata Metro Rail Corporation Limited (KMRCL), the implementing agency of the East-West Corridor at Bowbazar is carrying out the installation works of steel liners inside the east-bound tunnel at Bowbazar.
Misgivings that both projects from the city to the peripheral areas, via the airport, might be truncated are not wholly unfounded. In the proposed outlay, according to sources, Kolkata Metro is said to have received Rs 2,316 crores this year, which is less than last year, when it had received a boost of 38 per cent.

The manoeuvre will not result in soil subsidence and will as such not affect life or property above the ground over the distance over which the machine is proposed to be shifted or otherwise, according to the report placed before the Division Bench of Chief Justice T B N Radhakrishnan and Justice Arijit Banerjee of the court.
“The issue of possible change of alignment was brought before the board of KMRC. This meeting was attended by B P Gopalika, state transport secretary, and Rajiv Chaudhury, executive director (works), Railway Board, as special invitees. The Board was of the opinion that the present alignment should continue, and urged the state government to provide support for completion of land acquisition,” the note said.
