Fire in factory, 1 hurt

A major fire broke out in a naphthalene factory in Muchpara near Durgapur under New Township police station yesterday evening and one labourer suffered severe burn injury yesterday evening. An ITI college is near the factory site and there are few houses also.

Inundation threat after barrage discharge crosses 60,000 cusecs

Incessant rainfall caused by sustained depression over the Damodar East sub-basin in the last couple of days resulted the Durgapur barrage to open 16 of its 34 lock-gates resulting a discharge of 60210 cusecs at 6 pm today, posing a minor inundation threat to the lower valley basin.
