India recorded 3,32,730 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, setting yet another grim one-day record, taking the overall caseload to 1,62,63,695, according to data from the Union Health Ministry.
The vaccine of two candidates - Bharat Biotech's Covaxin and the Serum Institute of India's Covishield - have been recommended by a government-appointed panel to the DCGI.
On the other side, Pfizer had sought more time to present their data to the panel of experts.
The decision to conduct the human clinical trials of the vaccine was taken after Dr Reddy's Laboratories got approval from the DCGI in this regard.
