The apex court is to hear a petition filed by the Centre seeking Union Carbide and other firms for Rs 7,844 crore of additional funds over and above the earlier settlement amount of USD 470 million for paying compensation to the Bhopal Gas Tragedy victims.
Many organizations working for the gas relief and hundreds of victims and their family members gathered outside the now-closed Union Carbide factory at Jai Prakash Nagar in Bhopal on Monday morning.
