The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) on Monday collaborated with WhatsApp to extend ‘Scam Se Bacho,’ Meta’s safety campaign against online scams and spam.

Emphasising the priority to unlock the potential of 5G technology for rural development, the government on Wednesday urged the industry and telecom service providers (TSPs) to come forward and deploy technology to create "5G Intelligent Villages".
It also said that deduction has not been given for PSTN related call charges and for roaming charges actually paid to other operators.
However, as per telco’s self-assessment, its total dues to the government stand at Rs 13,004 crore. The telco has already paid Rs 18,004 crore.
The NCLT earlier this week had directed the DoT to file their submission of objection by Friday.
The company had earlier deposited Rs. 6,854 crores in three tranches, the telco said in a BSE filing.
The move aims to push DoT to minimise Indian companies’ reliance on Chinese or any other foreign equipments.
