In his letter to the CVC, the BJP leader accused the Delhi government of deliberate financial mismanagement in the city's water board. He alleged that the intentions of the government are dubious. They have not prepared a balance sheet of the DJB since 2018 to hide the corruption.
The minister has said that it is now the CS's personal responsibility to resolve the crisis.
Saxena also reviewed the preparedness and emergency response of various departments to deal with the situation.
Delhi Water Minister Atishi issued an order to this effect to initiate a crackdown on washing cars with piped water, overflowing water tanks, and use of domestic water supply for construction or any other commercial purpose.
According to the ACB, in 2019 the vigilance department of the DJB discovered "serious fraud" and embezzlement of DJB money by the officials/agencies concerned.
The Delhi Lieutenant Governor on Saturday directed the Chief Secretary to lodge an FIR against Delhi Jal Board officials and others for embezzlement of Rs 20 crore, said a statement.
As soon as the sewer water crosses the threshold level in the tanks situated in these stations, the officials of the DJB will get the information through the monitoring device, if the pumps have not been turned on.
The Delhi Jal Board (DJB) has instituted new water consumption rules in the national capital under which no consumer can be charged more than 1.5 times the amount of the bill in the previous month.
DJB official said that RWA’s and people of the area have been informed about it earlier and approx. 30 to 35 tankers have been deputed by the DJB to cater to the needs of residents of the affected area.
