These collections till 10 February show that gross collections are at Rs 15.67 lakh crore which is 24.09 per cent higher than the gross collections for the corresponding period of last year.
Net direct tax collections so far this financial year are at Rs 700,669 crore, an increase of 23 per cent as compared to Rs 568,147 crore till the same period
A lot of measures have been taken to ease compliance burden and provide better taxpayer services, Mody said, adding that this got reflected in the tax collection for last fiscal.
Even though the lockdown has been lifted considerably from June 1, the economy is yet to crawl back to normalcy.
