Without naming Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, VP Dhankar said “The world laughs at us when a person in a Constitutional position engages in behaviour abroad that disregards their oath to the Constitution.”
The Vice-President's remarks were apparently directed at the Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his endorsement of Hindenburg Research's baseless and malicious report and also questioning of the credentials of market regulator, Securities and Exchanges Board of India (SEBI).
Speaking at the 10th National Handloom Day event, Dhankar described economic nationalism as fundamental to "our spinal economic growth and economic independence".
Prior to walking out from the House, the Opposition MPs protested with incessant sloganeering and raised chants like ‘LoP ko bolne do’ (Let LoP speak).
