Tax evasion under the Goods and Services Tax (GST) regime has surged to Rs 2.01 lakh crore for the financial year 2023-24, said the Directorate General of GST Intelligence (DGGI).
In a major breakthrough, the Pune zonal unit of the Directorate General of GST Intelligence has busted a multi-state fake input tax credit racket worth over Rs 145 crore and arrested one person from Rajasthan, official sources said here on Tuesday.
However, on Thursday the DGGI made it clear that there was nothing going like that. The DGGI refuted all the claims.

Sources said that two arrests were made on Friday in Gurugram while one each was made in Nagpur, Kolkata and Mumbai CGST zones.
