Dev Deepawali has been celebrated on the full moon night of Kartik month. This is considered to be a major festival where the ghats of Varanasi are lit up with thousands of diyas or oil lamps. The festival happens fifteen days after Diwali, honouring the victory of Lord Shiva over the demon Tripurasura.
This November 15, the sacred city of Kashi will come alive, as millions gather to witness the world-famous Dev Deepawali.
The programme was organised in the Cricket Stadium of the school, where the above arrangement of Diyas was created in an area of more than 350 feet in diameter.
Ten thousand earthen lamps were lit up during the Dev Deepawali function at Baje Kadamtala ghat this evening. Mayor Firhad Hakim inaugurated the ceremony.
The stage is set for a grand and majestic Dev Deepawali celebrations in Kashi on Monday as the Yogi Government gears up to illuminate the ghats of Kashi with 12 lakh earthen lamps on the occasion.

"Dev Deepawali is special this year because it marks the return of Maa Annapurna," said the PM while addressing the gathering.
PM will visit Kashi Vishwanath Mandir around 4:30 PM followed by inspection of the Kashi Vishwanath temple corridor project.
The 73 Km stretch of the newly widened and six laned NH19, made with a total outlay of Rs 2447 crore, is expected to reduce the travel time between Prayagraj and Varanasi by one hour.
