Adopting a considerate approach towards farmers, the Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann-led AAP government here has decided to immediately release 450 more farmers from police detention.
Members of the All India Students Association (AISA), protesting outside Ladakh Bhawan in support of climate activist Sonam Wangchuk on Sunday were taken away by the police before being released soon after.
It added that the case was being handed over to the relevant authority for investigation.
Abdullah was released in March after the J&K government revoked his detention orders under Public Safety Act (PSA), more than seven months after he was detained.
The PDP leader has been under detention since August 5 last year, the day the Centre had withdrawn the special status given to J-K under Article 370 of the Constitution and divided the state into two Union Territories.
The bench has now posted the plea for hearing on March 18.
Former Jammu and Kashmir CMs Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti, who were under preventive detention for the past six months, were on February 5 booked under the PSA without charges, barely hours before their arrest was to come to an end.
Several political leaders were picked up from their residences on August 5, the day the Centre had withdrawn the special status given to J-K under Article 370 of the Constitution and divided the state into two Union Territories.
The Centre had earlier while justifying the imposition of restrictions on Kashmir post-August 5, told the Supreme Court that political leaders in Kashmir instigated an uprising propagating anti-India sentiments through several public speeches.
