In a major crackdown on illegally staying foreign nationals, the Delhi Police have got their hands on 10 immigrants residing in areas of Delhi-NCR, it said on Wednesday.
The individual has been identified as 40-year-old Afazuddin Gazi, alias Gazi, a resident of village Saigura, Munshiganj, Dhaka, Bangladesh.
As sought by the solicitor general, the bench granted more time to the Centre to place on record its decision on deporting the foreign nationals declared residing illegally in Assam and posted the matter for hearing on March 21.
In a post on X, Chidambaram said, "All eyes will be on the US aircraft which will land today in Amritsar bringing back illegal immigrants. Will the deportees be handcuffed and their legs tied with ropes? It is a test for Indian diplomacy."
