Kharge, who is the Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha, also posed a volley of questions to the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and asserted that poor and middle class are “suffering” under the present government.
The Congress has been critical of the government's move of demonetisation, when on November 8 in 2016 the Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 were spiked.
He said PM Modi felt that the effort was to tackle black money and if a bigger denomination note comes then the capacity to hoard will increase.
It further added that demonetisation was also a part of larger strategy for combating the menace of fake money, terror financing, black money and tax evasion.
"PM Modi's wrong policies like demonetisation, GST, have broken small businesses, farmers who were the backbone of employment. The truth of India is that the country cannot give employment to its youth," he said.
On Friday, Former finance minister and senior Congress member P. Chidambaram reacted to Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman's remarks on India's 1991 economic reforms.
The move led to nearly 86 per cent of the currency in circulation becoming null and void from the midnight of the announcement.

The correct response on the part of the Union government would have been to allow those who wanted to go back to their villages to do so in an orderly fashion. This would have involved some increase in infection but not much.
