According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the city recorded its lowest minimum temperature of the season so far at 16.1 degrees Celsius, three points above the normal while the maximum temperature settled at 27.8 degree Celsius.
The afternoon rain led to waterlogging in several areas, causing traffic snarls in the Capital during the evening.
The Weather Department reported that the visibility in Delhi stood at 900 meters at 10:30 am.
Areas such as Vasant Vihar, and Chanakyapuri received a good amount of rainfall while various other areas on the outskirts witnessed light monsoon showers.
The sky remained generally cloudy throughout the day. However, the maximum temperature was recorded at 40.4 degrees C, two points more than season's average, according to the Indian Meteorological Department.
At around 5.30 pm, after the city witnessed a light shower, the temperature was recorded at 36 degrees C while the relative humidity was pegged at 63 per cent, the Regional Meteorological Centre New Delhi said.
The minimum temperature on Friday morning pegged at 28.4 degrees C, which was normal for the season.
At least two people got killed due to uprooting of trees, while six people got injured from across the city on Friday night.
However, Delhi is expected to get some respite from the stifling heat on May 28 due to a fresh Western Disturbance and easterly winds at lower levels.
