As per the order issued by the GAD, the offices under the civic body would run from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm while the offices of the Delhi government would function from 10:00 am to 6:30 pm.
"Thirty per cent lesser firecrackers were burst in Delhi this Diwali, people are becoming aware", said the environment minister.
On Tuesday, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said the results of actions made by Delhi residents to curb pollution in the city are encouraging but still there is a long way to go.
Speaking to reporters, Rai said, "The level of pollution increases every year in winter. We celebrate Diwali every year. This Diwali, we appeal to all Delhiites to help in curbing the pollution. Try not to burst crackers. There is an appeal especially to the youth to take a pledge to stop pollution in their city."
An AQI between zero and 50 is considered good, 51 and 100 satisfactory, 101 and 200 moderate, 201 and 300 poor, 301 and 400 very poor, and 401 and 500 severe.
Due to the concretisation of the area around the trees water retention required for the thick canopied trees is minimised leading to the weak and damaged roots.
