SC grants bail to BRS leader K Kavitha in Delhi excise policy case

Refusing interim bail to Kejriwal and issuing a notice to the CBI, a bench of Justice Surya Kant and Justice Ujjal Bhuyan sought a response from the investigating agency by August 23, 2024.
The Public Prosecutor claimed that the CBI have traced the precise trail of 45 crores allegedly used in the Goa assembly elections by the Aam Aadmi Party.
The bail proceedings will be carried out on Friday morning and by afternoon, the Delhi CM will likely come out of jail.
He thanked the apex court for granting him the interim bail of 21 days to campaign for the elections and added that he did not waste even a minute of the said duration.
Kejriwal said that he will visit Rajghat and the Hanuman Temple at Connaught Place before surrendering at Tihar jail.
Manish Sisodia has been incarcerated since February 2023 in connection with the alleged irregularities in the formulation and implementation of the now scrapped Delhi excise policy 2021-22.
Earlier on May 3, the top court had said that it will consider giving interim bail to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on May 7 in view of the ongoing Lok Sabha polls.
Kejriwal is currently in Tihar Jail under judicial custody. He was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on March 21 in connection with the Delhi liquor policy case.
He has also been asked to keep his location on whenever he travels outside the national capital region.
