A total of 17 areas across the city reeled under 'severe' air quality with index values above 400, with Anand Vihar recording highest pollution level with index value of 442 at 6 pm.
With a slight relief for the people of Delhi, the city's average Air Quality Index on Friday witnessed a little improvement, taking a step down from the 'very poor' category with an index value recorded at 270.
The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has invoked Graded Response Action Plan's stage- II, while the Delhi government in line with commission's order has rolled out anti- pollution measures on Tuesday.
In the areas where the AQI is 'very poor' people might develop respiratory illness on prolonged exposure.
The data released by the pollution control agency was based on observations from 34 of the 40 monitoring stations across the city.
AQI in Delhi's Anand Vihar was recorded at 478 on Sunday morning.
All construction and demolition activities will be banned under the GRAP Stage III.
