Last year, Shoaib Akhtar -- on a Pakistan channel -- made a shocking revelation that the Pakistan team was unfair to Kaneria because he was a Hindu.
In a letter, Kaneria's legal team wrote that the tainted leg-spinner has "suffered unimaginable and incomprehensible hardships, both professionally and personally" and "his sole source of income has vastly been affected".
Kaneria was banned for spot-fixing in 2012 while representing Essex. The leg-spinner had initially denied the charge but in 2018, he finally confessed.
During his recent visit to Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK), Afridi had accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of committing religious atrocities in India.
On Thursday, Akhtar had alleged that there were many who did not want Kaneria to be part of the Pakistan team because of his Hindu faith.
When quizzed about the few players who he felt discriminated against him, Kaneria said he would reveal their names later on his YouTube channel.
Akhtar had revealed in a TV interview to a Pakistan news channel how Danish was mistreated by fellow Pakistan players.
Danish Kaneria thanked the former pacer Shoaib Akhtar in a statement and also acknowledged the support of other former cricketers.
Kaneria, a veteran of 79 international matches, is fourth in the list of bowlers who have taken most Test wickets for Pakistan, behind only fast bowlers.
