The verdict came after 900 days of the incident which rocked the entire country. Not satisfied with the verdict, the family of the victim will move the high court against the decision of a SC/T court.
"Lakhimpur incident is sad and unfortunate. Harshest action to be taken against all criminals. I'd expect the Opposition, whether Akhilesh Yadav, Priyanka Gandhi or Mayawati that instead of politicising, they console the family. But the rule of law has prevailed in UP," said Deputy CM KP Maurya
In a way the number of girl and boy examinees is almost equal, indicating growing awareness among females towards education.
The police claimed that according to a preliminary inquiry, the 14-year-old girl was in a relationship with the man who has been arrested.
The accused lives in the same locality and was detained by police following the complaint. He is a school dropout.
'The family wants the case to be transferred to Delhi or Mumbai,' lawyer Seema Kushwaha told reporters
'The shameful truth is many Indians don't consider Dalits, Muslims and Tribals to be human,' he said.
The Special Investigation Team probing the incident in its initial report called for their suspension over allegations of mismanagement.
'The report of the FSL has also come. It says clearly that samples did not have sperm. It makes clear that there was no rape or gang rape,' he said.
