Deeply upset over the kharif crop loss due to recent unseasonal rain, a debt-ridden small and marginal farmer in Odisha’s Kendrapara district died of cardiac arrest on Wednesday.
Providing immediate relief to farmers in distress due to crop loss during the recent floods, the Uttar Pradesh government has released an amount of over Rs 150 crore. This amount was allocated based on district demands to cover crop losses.
Mann expressed the hope that this will give much-needed relief to the farmers in this hour of crisis. He said the farmers can pay back the amounts later after they recover from the losses.
Presently, general claims under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) are settled on the basis of yield data arrived from the crop cutting experiments (CCEs).
