About 32 boxes reached Kolkata from Pune in an Air Asia flight and two more boxes arrived from Hyderabad on an IndiGo flight. The vaccines were handed over to the state health officials and were subsequently taken to the Baghbazar storage facility. Sources said the consignment comprised Covishield vaccines. More than 3 lakh doses of the vaccine came in from Pune.
The study also found that immunization with combination of Covishield and Covaxin was safe and the adverse effects were also found to be similar when compared to the same dose regimen.
A KMC notice issued by the chief municipal health officer informed that all 102 urban primary health centres (UPHCs) and 50 mega centres, administering only Covishield vaccines will remain shut on Saturday too since stocks are yet to arrive. It, however, said vaccination at 40 Covaxin UPHCs and Roxy mega centre will continue as usual.
