In the ongoing massive vaccination coverage, 1,02,44,459 Healthcare Workers (HCWs) have so far administered first dose of the anti-Covid jabs and 73,84,439 of them have been provided second dose.
The drive was facilitated by a group of NGOs and a private healthcare facility that has administered more than a thousand individuals a shot in their arms.
Three lakh doses of vaccines were wasted since January 2021, according to the health department.
The development has come at a time when the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) led Delhi government is seeking adequate medical supplies for the national capital, including vaccine doses and oxygen, to meet its growing demand in the wake of the raging second wave of the Covid pandemic.
Britain launched its inoculation drive with the US-German vaccine on December 8, with the United States, Canada and EU countries following suit.
Once the vaccines are cleared by the expert panel, the applications will move to the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) for final approval.
Turkey will initially receive three million doses of Sinovac and have the option for 50 million more as it begins inoculations next month, starting with healthcare workers and the most vulnerable.
It is to be noted that on November 20, the 67-year-old leader was administered a trial dose of a coronavirus vaccine as part of the third phase trial of Bharat Biotech's Covaxin.
As per the officials, Deputy commissioners have been asked to prepare district-wise micro-plans for vaccination sites, cold chain storage points and logistics requirements by December 7.
