Over 49% of the total death toll has been recorded in the State in the past 54 days. As many as 2,691 Covid patients have succumbed to infection since 31 May at a daily average of almost 50 deaths. The surge in deaths had begun to emerge after the launch of the district-level audit for death recount.
The state now has 22,299 active cases, while 9,20,646 people have recovered from the disease to date, including 2,605 on Wednesday.
The State’s COVID management presents an intriguingly contrasting picture- steady decline in positive cases coupled with upward trend in the fatality graph.
Meanwhile, the active cases have come down to 25,461 with daily recoveries breaching the virus infections. As many as 3,120 patients who were either home isolated or hospitalized recuperated from the disease in the past 24 hours.
On the global front, the total number of Coronavirus cases has neared the 17 million-mark, while the deaths have increased to more than 665,000, according to the Johns Hopkins University.
More than 4,600 additional COVID-19 beds were created in Delhi by attaching around 40 hotels to various hospitals.
