In a prominent battle, Maharashtra deputy CM Ajit Pawar is poised to defeat his relative, Yugendra Shrinivas Pawar, with a lead of 43,619 votes after nine rounds of counting.
Congress candidate Rajkumar Patel took an early lead of nearly 6500 votes against his ruling BJP rival Ramakant Bhargava at the Budhni seat of Madhya Pradesh where counting for State Assembly by poll began on Saturday morning.
The BJP-led Mahayuti alliance crossed the halfway mark at 10 am leading in 172 seats so far, while the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance is trailing with 47 seats as per trends by the Elections Commission of India.
As counting of the votes for assembly polls is underway, BJP leader Shehzad Poonawalla said that the BJP-led NDA alliance will form the government in both Maharashtra and Jharkhand under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday.
The State Congress leaders have said that the BJP is organizing the entire event to woo the Gurjar community in view of the next Assembly polls later this year.
During the programme which is scheduled to end on March 26, party workers will reach out to 2.5 lakh Gram Panchayats, six lakh villages and 10 lakh booths.
“All other political parties have become family parties, the Congress has been identified as a family party, regional parties have also become family parties," said the BJP president at a closed-door meeting of the Rajasthan BJP’s working committee.
Warring demanded a clarification from the State Government clearing its position alleging that public money was being squandered away in such a lavish manner.
The incidents of question paper leak, poor law and order situation and regularisation issue of the contractual employees will help BJP up the ante against the Congress Government.
