The Kerala police on Saturday arrested IC Balakrishnan, the Congress MLA from Sulthan Bathery, in connection with the abetment of a suicide case involving the death of former Wayanad DCC Treasurer N M Vijayan and his son Jijesh. He was later released on bail after the District Sessions Court at Kalpetta in Wayanad granted him anticipatory bail.
The District Sessions Court in Kalpetta, Wayanad, granted anticipatory bail on Saturday to IC Balakrishnan, Congress MLA from Sulthan Bathery; ND Appachan, Wayanad District Congress Committee (DCC) president; and KK Gopinathan, former DCC treasurer.
Opposition Congress MLAs arrived at the MP State Assembly holding copies of the Indian Constitution on the last day of the five-day winter session in Bhopal on Friday.
BRS working president, KT Rama Rao also criticised the law-and-order situation in the state alleging that it was a major concern since the police were being kept busy in political affairs thereby crippling law enforcement.
"I wanted that kind of conduct you had, you did not deserve to be a member of the house for four years. I took the decision after the request and apology of the members of your party (Congress)," Devnani strictly said.
Earlier, he approached the vigilance court, Thiruvananthapuram seeking a probe under the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau.
