Surinder Dau, a district panchayat member and a long-time Congress worker, took the stage and publicly rebuked Congress's previous government in Chhattisgarh led by Bhupesh Baghel, accusing it of neglecting grassroots workers and prioritising a select few.
This was his first meeting in Delhi following his resignation as the Punjab Congress chief -- a move which is said to have irked the Gandhi family.
However, the Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala maintained that "99.9 per cent" leaders are in favour of Rahul Gandhi's return to the top post.
