The AAP and Congress are contesting the seven seats in alliance in the national capital, with the AAP contesting four and the Congress three seats. The seven parliamentary constituencies are Chandni Chowk, East Delhi, New Delhi, North East Delhi, North West Delhi, South Delhi, and West Delhi.
Notably, the Congress and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), part of the INDIA bloc, announced seat-sharing in Delhi and several states for the general elections.
BJP's Amit Malviya claimed the move was Rahul Gandhi's attempt to erase Ahmed Patel's legacy.
Mumtaz Patel apologised to Congress party workers after Bharuch seat went to AAP.
Earlier on Thursday, the AAP had said that there will be no alliance with the Congress in Haryana after the grand old party refused to have a tie-up in any other state apart from Delhi.
Accusing Kejriwal of taking a “U-turn”, the 48-year-old Gandhi tweeted that the Congress is still willing to give 4 seats of the 7 Lok Sabha seats in Delhi to the AAP.
As Sheila Dikshit and other leaders met Gandhi on Monday to discuss the possibility of a tie-up, their views remained divided, though they were unanimous that the Congress chief should settle the matter in the larger interest of the party
Rahul Gandhi had called a meeting of Congress leaders in Delhi to hold discussions on an alliance with the AAP.
