MP: Cheetahs likely to be shifted from KNP

The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change on Monday said that the process of shifting some cheetahs at the new enclosure of Gandhi Wildlife Sanctuary from Kuno National Park (KNP) is likely to be started by end of this month.

Deep ecology, not shallow environmentalism needed

The current global climate emergencies and heartwrenching plight of a vast number of people in different countries and particularly India clearly demonstrate how far humanity has strayed from the wise counsel of our sages and seers of the past.

Himalayan water woes

Himalayas are young mountains and have the third largest deposit of snow and ice in the world. Due to this, they are often referred to as the third pole of the planet. Having formed relatively recently in the Earth’s geological history, the Himalayas are fragile since they are undergoing the mountain building process. Himalayas are also the point of origin of many Asian rivers, which collectively feed more than 1.3 billion people living in the watershed of the Himalayas.

Peace commitments are vital for Taiwan solution

The resolution of long-pending international disputes involving big powers has become more important than ever before due to the overwhelming need to avoid catastrophic war between big powers and the need for international cooperation to resolve life-threatening environmental problems led by climate change. The need for early resolution of Taiwan-related issues should be seen in this wider context.

Waiting to happen

The disasters that have laid low two of India’s hill states ~ Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand ~ are attributable as much to the vagaries of nature as they are to the depredations wrought by man.

Unique Pathways

It is essential to maintain a continued focus on reducing the cost of power through advancements in solar cell development and the exploration of other biotechnologies such as A2O (Algae to Oil) systems, biofuels, synthetic biotechnologies, and plastic waste recycling. These areas hold immense potential for creating sustainable energy sources and addressing environmental challenges. By investing in contract research and expanding our portfolio, we can accelerate the development and adoption of innovative solutions that pave the way for a greener and more efficient future
