Lady Justice in SC library now holds a Constitution with open eyes

In an initiative shedding the colonial imprint and traditional attributes, the statue of Lady Justice, in the judges' library of the Supreme Court, now holds a copy of the Indian Constitution, instead of a sword, and the blindfold has come off to leave her with open eyes.

Under the new roster, arbitration matters will be heard by the benches headed by CJI Chandrachud, Justice Kaul, Justice Khanna, Justice Bhat and Justice Oka.

The recently concluded Budget Session of the Seventeenth Lok Sabha was truly noteworthy, as the Lok Sabha functioned for only 33 per cent of its scheduled time (46 hours) and Rajya Sabha for 24 per cent (32 hours).
