The celebration was graced by Union Minister of Coal and Mines, G. Kishan Reddy, as the chief guest, along with Vikram Dev Dutt, Secretary of the Ministry of Coal, as the guest of honour.
Coal production in Open Cast Coal Mines Projects (OCP) of Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL) in West Burdwan district has been completely stopped since yesterday due to incessant rainfall and huge waterlogging, said Niladri Roy, director (technical), ECL.
In FY25, as of September 12, the Ministry of Coal achieved an upswing in coal production, reaching a provisional figure of 411.62 million tonnes (MT).
The production of Coal India Limited (CIL) rose to 290.39 MT during the period of April to August 2024 marking a growth of 3.17% as compared to 281.46 MT during the corresponding period of last period, the Ministry of Coal said.
The Coal India Limited (CIL) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Rajasthan Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (RRVUNL) in presence of Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Coal and Mines Pralhad Joshi and Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot.
Coal India Ltd (CIL) supplied 117.6 million tonnes to power utilities during July- September 2021 quarter, the highest for Q2 of any year.
The mock-up mine will also showcase the technological advances made and safety measures undertaken by CIL in coal mining.
CIL booked 53.3 million tonnes of coal in the first five months of FY22, under the five auction categories. This is nearly 16 MT higher.
