The celebration was graced by Union Minister of Coal and Mines, G. Kishan Reddy, as the chief guest, along with Vikram Dev Dutt, Secretary of the Ministry of Coal, as the guest of honour.
Coal production in Open Cast Coal Mines Projects (OCP) of Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL) in West Burdwan district has been completely stopped since yesterday due to incessant rainfall and huge waterlogging, said Niladri Roy, director (technical), ECL.
In FY25, as of September 12, the Ministry of Coal achieved an upswing in coal production, reaching a provisional figure of 411.62 million tonnes (MT).
The production of Coal India Limited (CIL) rose to 290.39 MT during the period of April to August 2024 marking a growth of 3.17% as compared to 281.46 MT during the corresponding period of last period, the Ministry of Coal said.
Debasish Nanda, Director (Business Development) CIL and Shri. R K Singhal, Director (Business Development) GAIL inked the JVA on behalf of CIL and GAIL respectively.
During April 2024, Coal India Limited (CIL) achieved a coal production of 61.78 MT, marking a growth of 7.31 per cent compared to the same period last year when it was 57.57 MT.
The quicker coal movement in the country also reflects the better performance of Indian Railways. The faster movement of coal also enables power plants to function more efficiently.
Thirty such eco-parks are already attracting steady footfalls and plans are afoot for the creation of more eco-parks and eco-restoration sites in CIL’s mining areas.
Of the top 37 mines in coal production, as many as 24 mines produced more than 100 per cent and the production of five mines stood between 80 and 100 per cent.
