Congress is expected to have a clear edge in Karnataka in the assembly elections conducted on May 10 with four exit polls giving it a full majority and some predicting a hung assembly with an advantage to the party.
BJP president JP Nadda, who was in Karnataka, also attacked the Congress and accused its leader and former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah of being "patron" of PFI.
Even as the BJP is facing rebellion from some senior leaders, who have not been given the tickets to contest the Assembly poll, the Congress is ready to poach disgruntled leaders, sources have said.
The polling would take place in a single phase on May 10, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, former Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa has refused to comment on the issue of resignation of Minister Eshwarappa.
The by-elections to Hanagal and Sindhagi Assembly constituencies, scheduled for 30 October, are crucial for Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai to prove himself as the leader who can ensure victory for the party.
