Uttarakhand: Char Dham Yatra temporarily suspended due to heavy rain forecast
The ongoing Char Dham Yatra in Uttarakhand will remain suspended on Sunday due to the heavy rain alert issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) for July 7-8.

The police added further, "All the devotees who are going to Yamunotri today, are requested to postpone their Yamunotri Yatra today."
There had been reports of heavy landslides on Sonprayag-gaurikund road due to incessant rains.
The road traffic on ‘Char Dham yatra’ route has also been suspended from 8 pm till 5 am due to prevailing weather conditions and resultant landslides.
It was found that on June 21 while returning from Kedarnath, Rakesh Singh forced his horse to smoke with the help of another accomplice.
The train will be covering some of the prominent pilgrimage and heritage destinations of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and Orissa States.
The train is all set to embark on its eight-day tour wherein the one among the Char Dham of India ie the Jagannath temple of Puri will be visited by the pilgrims. Besides, the visit of Varanasi, Baijnath Dham and Gaya will be added attractions in the tour.
In the 89th edition of his monthly 'Mann Ki Baat' broadcast over All India Radio, Modi regretted that some pilgrims spread the filth in Kedarnath during the ongoing 'Char-Dham Yatra'.
Further, with an increase in tourism activities in the state, heaps of plastic waste and garbage have been seen piled up on the stretch leading to Kedarnath, a prominent place of worship in the yatra.
As many as 15,000 pilgrims will be allowed daily at Badrinath, 12,000 at Kedarnath, 7,000 at Gangotri, and 4,000 at Yamunotri. This arrangement has been made for 45 days.
