Camel rides are the main attraction at the famous annual Pushkar Fair for both domestic and overseas tourists. The prohibition is imposed in view of the prevalent Lumpy Skin Disease in bovines and Glanders in horses.
The seriousness of the outbreak is demonstrated by the approximately 21 percent decrease in milk output that Rajasthan has seen in August.
To check spread of Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD), the Jammu and Kashmir government, on Thursday, imposed blanket nban on import of bovines from neighbouring states and inter-district movement of bovines within the UT for any purpose, till 25 October.
Sources in the state government said that the chief minister would be closely monitoring such cases from now onwards and was likely to take a review of such cases in the near future.
