Despite ongoing unrest in Bangladesh, cattle smuggling activities persist, resulting in the death of a Bangladeshi smuggler due to Border Security Force (BSF) gunfire in north Bengal.
The daughter of Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Anubrata Mondal was arrested in an alleged money laundering case related to cattle smuggling in West Bengal.
Cattle smuggling, it seems, has started to spread its wings, despite the ongoing CBI investigation and political debate.
CBI sources said questioning Kothari has become important after Anubrata Mondal's daughter, Sukanya, was interrogated last week on the sources of funds in her name, as well that of her father and late mother, Chobi Mondal.
In the midst of CBI’s investigation on cattle smuggling case, the police rescued 47 cattle and booked nine cattle smugglers…
Mr Mondal remains tightlipped on most of the questions put to him during his question and has been dodging others, the sources said.
“I won’t comment anything on my party leadership’s stand on Anubrata Mondal but for myself I will stand beside him forgetting all my differences of opinions with him,” she said.
Anubrata had been under the CBI scanner for quite some time now but despite being summoned for the fifth time in a row, he was able to give the central agency a slip and evade being quizzed.
After the interrogation, Dev told newspersons he had answered what the officers had asked him and nothing else he had to add. On a question, whether he knew Enamul Haq, the alleged mastermind in the cattle smuggling case, the Ghatal MP said he did not know him and no financial transaction had ever happened.
The CBI, had earlier arrested Enamul Haq over his alleged complicity in running the show and interrogation of his alleged accomplices that followed had allegedly spilled the beans of the actor-turned MP’s likely links in the case.
