In a crackdown on drug trafficking, Mizoram authorities have arrested three Myanmar nationals and an Assam resident for allegedly smuggling large quantities of banned narcotic substances, including methamphetamine tablets and heroin, in two separate operations.
With the arrest of two brokers along with a hotel owner from the Mahipalpur area of South West Delhi, the Delhi Police rescued ten girls from a prostitution racket, the police said on Friday.
The arrested persons were identified as Nadeem and Fazeel, both residents of Seelampur, North East Delhi. They were involved in arms supply operations for the past six months.
An FIR was registered under relevant sections of the Delhi Public Gambling Act, 1955, they said.
The arrest resulted in the recovery of 18 kilogram of ‘Alprazolam’ (a drug used in treating anxiety) powder and a factory used in the manufacturing of the drug was also unearthed in Hisar, Haryana, it added.
Nine accused, along with an equal number of female tele-callers associated with the racket, were arrested in a raid on the centre.

When asked about the possible targets of the arrested persons, the official said that anything about their future plans could be said only after the investigation into the matter is done.
The Additional DCP said that the accused used to buy allopathic potency-enhancing medicines.
