With the running of public transport buses not-so-profitable business any more, many private bus operators in the city are considering replacing their more than 15-year-old vehicles.

“The WBTC has finalised the supply, operation and maintenance with charging and civil infrastructure for 50 numbers of air-conditioned electric buses,” informed an official of the department .
A spokesman here said this will be subject to maintaining social distancing and that no standing passenger would be allowed in the buses during journey.
The announcement comes after the central government was slammed by the opposition for levying train fares from migrant workers.
