Breaking deadlock

Coming after a wait of almost six months, the Uni on Budget had kindled hopes in many breasts only to be dashed rudely by the Budget document. People who had set their sights on increasing their take home in come were left wondering whether they were better off earlier.

Tax Revenues in 2021-22 exceed the Budget estimates by Rs 5 lakh crore

The tax revenue in the Union Budget for 2021-22 was estimated at ₹22.17 lakh crore against the revised estimates of ₹19 lakh crore, with a growth of 17%. The Union Budget was presented on 1st February, 2021 when the 1st COVID wave had tapered off in India but the world was facing successive waves.

Budget for growth

Any growth-oriented budget that relies heavily on capital expenditure, however, is fraught with inherent risks. In propounding such a growth-oriented budget, by pushing capital expenditure, the country is exposing itself to the risks of high inflation and, accordingly, the RBI will have to take a call on increasing rates gradually to address inflation

Naidu calls for productive second half of Budget session

Referring to the first part of the Budget session, he said that the first half had a good productivity of around 101.40 per cent, adding that the members should attend the proceedings of the House to make it more productive.
