The YSRCP MLAs and MLCs led by party chief Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy donned black scarves and held up placards proclaiming “Save Democracy” while arriving at the entrance of the Assembly.
Highlighting the significance of the current session, he stated, "This is the Budget session. The guarantees that I have been giving, we are moving forward to implement those guarantees on the ground."
Backstage talks for peace in the chambers of the presiding officers were either shunned or non-productive, as the two sides were unwilling to yield any ground.
Low productivity marks the Budget Session
Both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha were adjourned sine die on Thursday, bringing an end to the Budget Session that registered very low productivity of 34 per cent in the Lower House and 24.4 per cent in the Upper House.
The last week of its Budget Session was marked by interruptions by the Opposition shouting slogans for a JPC inquiry into the Adani Group affairs.
Within minutes of the commencement of proceedings of both Houses, Rajya Sabha was adjourned till 2 pm and Lok Sabha till 4 pm.
