Since 2020, the STF has seized more than 70 kilograms of brown sugar from across the state.
The arrested drug peddler booked under Sections 21(c)/29 of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985 provisions was later remanded to judicial custody.

The drug peddlers identified as Bhagirathi Bhatt, Biswajit Nayak, Chandan Mallik were nabbed with the banned substances in a raid conducted by a team of STF near AIIMs, Bhubaneswar. All the accused persons were the natives of Khordha district.
Acting on a tip-off, a special squad of police nabbed three drug peddlers with the drug haul near Mangala Ghat Chowk.
During the search, banned substances weighing 253 grams and other incriminating materials were recovered and seized from his possession, said Deputy Inspector General of Police, STF, Jay Narayan Pankaj.
The arrested drug peddlers had procured the banned substances from the Jaleswar area. On a tipoff, the motorcycle-borne duo was nabbed at Randia chowk on the outskirts of Bhadrak town.
Three suspected drug peddlers including two women have been taken into custody and a brown sugar haul of 2.4 kg was seized from them. The banned substances are valued at over Rs 2.4 crore.
