A 54-year-old man and his wife were killed and two others of the family seriously injured after the house in which they were making firecrackers was ripped apart following a blast in Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur district, police said on Saturday.

According to the official, a call was received at 10.40 a.m. regarding the mysterious explosion inside Chamber no 102 after which the Fire Department rushed at least 7 fire tenders to the spot.
According to the local people, the magnitude of the blast was so high that the window panes of some of the neighbouring houses broke and the bodies were thrown nearly 200 metres away from the blast site. According to the police, the blast took place on the roof and the concrete roof collapsed.
