The BJP’s leaning on Tagore is slowly appearing crystal clear as its district unit in Nadia launched a massive membership drive from their party office in Krishnagar by singing one of Tagore's popular songs – ‘E Desher Mati Amar’.
In a press release he issued on 7 August, Md Yahya also criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for laying the foundation stone for the Ram Temple at Ayodhya on 5 August.
BJP national president J P Nadda, in a video message on the occasion, urged people to join the party and help it defeat the “anti-people” TMC dispensation. He also accused the government of “mishandling” the COVID-19 situation in the state.
Those who once strengthened the hands of BJP to weaken Congress will now find it difficult to protect their own existence, Mitra said apparently referring to flight of TMC leaders to BJP in Bengal.
