Granting bail to Kumar, a bench of Justice Surya Kant and Justice Ujjal Bhuyan noted that he is in custody for 100 days and chargesheet has already been filed in the case.
The Delhi Police had opposed Kumar’s bail plea, saying that releasing him on bail could influence the probe.
The high court had dismissed Bibhav Kumar’s bail plea, stating that no ground to grant him the relief was made out as he enjoys “considerable influence” and it cannot be ruled out that the witnesses may be influenced or evidence tampered if he is released on bail.
According to sources, the 1,000-page chargesheet includes statements recorded by the RS MP before the magistrate, along with statements of about 50 witnesses.
Maliwal vowed to continue to fight until she gets justice and added that she won’t give up the fight despite being all alone.
The police have also taken statements from some of the staff working at the CM residence who were present there on May 13, the day when the alleged incident took place.
This comes a day after a team of Delhi Police seized a digital video recorder (DVR) from Chief Minister Kejriwal's residence in connection with the ongoing investigation in the case.
In the new video, security personnel are seen escorting Maliwal out of CM Kejriwal's house.
