The film was taken off cinema screens in the city a day after its release on 15 February, leading to discontent among a large number of cinema lovers.
“We have received a response from one of the cinema hall owners who have claimed that they are looking into the matter while the others are yet to respond,” informed one of the producers of the film.
With a SC order bringing the banned Bengali film,Bhobishyoter Bhoot, back to screens, people celebrate the order as victory for democracy in the country.
Going by Soumitra Chatterjee’s statement of protest, there is reason to assume that the ban order has little or nothing to do with cinema per se.
A censor board certified Bengali film, Bhobishyoter Bhoot (Ghosts of the Future), which was released on Friday, 15 February, has disappeared from cinema halls in West Bengal.
The social and political satire commenting on a range of issues through dark humour, had got clearance from CBFC and was running to packed houses before it was withdrawn from theatres
