Two BJP supporters were allegedly injured at Bhatpara in North 24-Parganas following political clashes between BJP and Trinamul Congress supporters over a 12-hour bandh call by the BJP this morning.
Talking to The Statesman, Trinamul Congress North 24- Parganas district president, Jyotipriyo Mullick, alleged “The MP, MLA and the civic body chairman, are quite apparently against restoring peace in the area. Today, the municipality was also attacked and vandalised.”
Police not acting without bias, inability to combat a communal outfit and the violence being only a part of the unrest engulfing parts of the state were some of the reasons set forth for the fragile peace being shattered.

Locals wanted the delegation to explain how the situation went out of control.
Section 144 prohibits assembly of five or more people in an area. The EC said that the prohibitory orders will remain in place till further notice.
