The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has finalized a contract with Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) for the supply of Medium-Range Surface-to-Air Missiles (MRSAM) for the Indian Navy, valued at approximately Rs 2,960 crore. The agreement was signed here on Thursday, with Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh overseeing the proceedings.

ASRAAM is one of the Within Visual Range missiles available and BDL will be manufacturing these at its Bhanur Unit for domestic and export in future through the MBDA.
The announcement led to a drastic plunge in company’s shares on the benchmarks.
The existing orders will be executed by 2023-24 and include seeker-based multi-role air defence missile MRSAM being jointly developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI)
