"Bakrid is a symbol of sacrifice, one should follow the message of peace as preached by the Prophet," said Rao conveying greetings to Muslims.
As people celebrate Bakrid, the Governor wished for the spirit of charity and goodwill towards all be cherished and nourished.
The application is likely to come up on Monday before Justice R.F Nariman's bench.
With lockdown restrictions eased in parts of the country, devotees were seen visiting mosques while maintaining social distancing and wearing masks as preventive measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Eid al-Adha will commence in India on August 21, and continue until the evening of August 22.
