The Uttar Pradesh government on Tuesday assured the Supreme Court that the State authorities won't take any action till Wednesday - October 23 - on the notices for the demolition of the buildings belonging to persons allegedly involved in the October 13, 2024, Bahraich violence in the state.
Family of the victim of the Bahraich violence on Friday expressed disappointment over the probe in the case and demanded strict punishment for the accused.
Apart from this, strict action will also be taken against those who are giving protection to these accused.
All five accused, including two who received gunshot wounds in the retaliatory firing from the police during an encounter, were detained.
He met the aggrieved family members at his official residence here. BJP MLA from Mahsi, Sureshwar Singh was also present with the family.
She also stated that maintaining law and order is the first responsibility of the government, irrespective of any festival or religion.
Violence continued unabated in Bahraich district of Uttar Pradesh on the second day on Monday following communal clashes during Durga idol immersion.
The protests, which began on Sunday, have escalated, with angry mobs setting ablaze public and private properties.
